The feed tube is an essential part used in vertical shaft impact VSI crusher plant. It serves two primary functions: rock-on-rock crushing and rotor protection.
Material Guidance: The feed tube's role is to guide the feed material centrally into the vsi crusher rotor after it passes through the hopper. This ensures that the material enters the rotor in a controlled manner, promoting efficient crushing.
Rotor Protection: By properly directing the feed material, the feed tube helps safeguard the rotor from excessive wear and damage.
Wear and Replacement: The feed tube is exposed to high levels of abrasive wear since all the feed material passing through the rotor flows through it. It is considered a wear part that needs regular monitoring and replacement.
Replacement Criteria: The feed tube should be replaced when the bottom lip wears beyond the top of the feed eye ring. Failure to replace it in a timely manner can result in feed material spilling out on top of the rotor, leading to wear-related issues.
Variations: Different VSI crusher models require specific feed tube designs. For instance, the feed tube used in the Barmac B6150SE differs from that used in the Barmac B7150SE/B9100SE. Additionally, some rotors may have different feed tube options for high and low throughputs, with the low throughput option featuring a smaller opening into the rotor.
Material and Construction: Feed tubes are commonly made of high-chrome cast steel, which provides excellent wear resistance and durability.
